Helsby Half runners — Mike’s photos

Photos of  Helsby runners taken at just over 1 mile and at 8.5 miles. The photos are in order they were taken and so are in race position order. I have more of each runner, if anyone wants copies let me know and I will send them to you. Well done to all runners, sorry if I have missed anyone.

Runcorn Weekly news pics

There’s a nice picture gallery from Runcorn Weekly News, including a group shot of some of the Helsby runners.

Shell four villages half marathon – all over now!

Hope you enjoyed your run today — some really strong performances out there and some good improvements. I could only watch as Ivan and his mate Graham disappeared into the distance, the Big Run preparation is obviously going well!

Full race results are over on the old site. Mick Hall’s event photos are here.

We’ll get a list of everyone’s time and positions when we’ve got a bit more time. Adair comfortably made the Top 100. But some of these fast new lads will hopefully be chasing his tail before too long! Was it Chris BH’s first Half? If so a pretty impressive debut. Ed, Ian, etc., we already know you’re good. Further down there were some strong runs — I saw Albert and Betty both looking good at the end. Lots more.

More importantly I know lots of you gave up a shot at the race, to help out behind the scenes. Thanks all, all of us in the green vests wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. As ever, there was a good vibe after the race. People enjoying a well run race once again. We must be doing something right!

We’re getting some great reviews over on the Runner’s World site. It’d be great if we could welcome some new folk along to the club as a result of getting them interested.

Unused chips
If you couldn’t make the race, it would help us out if you could return your chip to:

Helsby Half runners — Ian’s (niece’s) pics

What an excellent race it was today, well done to everyone involved.  My niece was primed to take a few photos of any Helsby runners she spotted going past the turn in Mouldsworth just after 8 miles.  Some managed to escape the camera but she caught quite a few of us.

Cheers Ian

Cheshire xc champs – 13th Feb, Liverpool – 7th Feb

Cheshire
Following work by the co-host organisers and the referee in conjunction with Reaseheath College, the championships have been re-arranged for Saturday, 13th February, using the same time table and order of races.

Entries by 6th Feb.

Liverpool
Also if anyone would like entry to the Liverpool and District Cross Country Championships please let me know within the next few days as I will send the entries off by the weekend. The race is on Sunday 7th February 2010 at 11.00am. There are no entries on the day and no guest runners. I’ll just need your name and DOB. (For those people that have not already sent me their details.)

Next night run – Thursday 7 January 2010

A couple of pics from yesterday’s night run…

Come on Helsby folk, we’re being outnumbered by guests (not that they’re not very welcome!). Next one’s Feb 4th, or sooner by popular demand.

Fancy a night run?

Fancy a nightrun?Fancy a night run? 6:30pm at the club. Something like the summer offroad hill route. A whole lot more fun than you might imagine.

I know for a fact at least one club member had a shiney new headtorch under their tree!

Bring a headtorch and a sense of humour. Friendly pace.

These are semi-regular through the winter, first Thursday of the month. Bring a friend.

If you need a light the Alpkit over there on the left is a great starter and good enough to run with. Absolute bargain for 15 quid. You can of course spend a heck of a lot more.

http://www.alpkit.com/gamma …now back in stock after a long wait. Or you might like to treat yourself to a Hope 4-led, like Andy. Ahem!

Cheshire XC champs cancelled

Sad news of two victims of the snow – the Cheshire Champs on Jan 9th are off. We’re pretty sure that Sunday’s xc at Runcorn Town Park (10th) has also fallen by the wayside. More news of replacement dates when we have it. For anyone not too worried by the snow, I’d urge you to strap on some decent shoes and have a go – be sensible, but it shouldn’t cancel your running altogether (see the night run post!)
