Official email for this weekend’s Liverpool half March 18th below
“The race had yet another brilliant turn out with 7600 entries taken and Olympic legend Kriss Akabusi got the event under way in his own inimitable manner. Kriss, who was visiting Liverpool specifically to get the 2012 RunLiverpool Marathon message out was suitably impressed with the turnout saying…
“Wow!! What a sensational turnout. I didn’t realise Liverpool had such an enthusiastic running community and the numbers taking part today were wicked. I’ve got to say a massive well done to everyone that took part.”
There were just over 6,300 finishers with many chasing PBs on generally flat course – just the one incline at 1.5 miles which most take in their stride.
And it does indeed look like a fast course with two Helsby runners achieving impressive PB’s.
6300 runners in total completed the course so it is a big event by any standards. 4 of those were from Helsby with chip time and finishing position below and Colin leading the way.
155th Colin Thompson 1.27.51
207th Jane Ashbrook 1.29.34
969th Roy Gaskill 1.37.08 (Chip Position 695th)
2035th Alison Meakin 1.54.27
For those not satisfied with a mild 13 miles there was also the Hardmoor 55 this weekend. As noted previously club member Chris Baynham-Hughes not only attempted but had those 55 miles in his pocket.
A stunning and dogged performance saw Chris come in joint 5th within a mind boggling 9 hours and 9 minutes
Official results not yet out but should appear here http://hardmoors110.org.uk/cms/?q=node/278
Well done to everyone’s achievements this weekend, if I’ve missed anyone or any events, as usual, please let me know.
