No Delamere Park Run this weekend due to other events in Delamere. Thanks to everyone who let me know. Details of previous park run on website below.
Sunday saw the London marathon where Colin Thompson ran a perfectly executed race to finish in one of the fastest marathon times for a Helsby runner for some time! Please find a few words from Colin below on his magnificent achievement.
“VLM 2013, a race I will never forget. Amazing course, amazing crowds, amazing organisation and amazing weather (did I mention it was amazing?) The pacing went perfectly to plan, the last 3 miles I couldn’t feel my legs but the crowds just pull you along. It was such an incredible feeling crossing the finish line. Every emotion was running through me at that point. Then to look up and see I’d broken the magic 3 hours (2:58:12) just made it that little bit more special. Not sure what else to say other than if you ever get a chance to race in this fantastic marathon then do it, you won’t find a better race!”
Colin’s time was in the top 20 for Cheshire and as far as I’m aware was the only runner for Helsby.

I’m sure all of you will congratulate Colin when you see him.
Jim O’Hara was out in Keswick for the Teenager with Altitude race. This is a tough race where the winning time is just under three hours. Jimmy ran a great race and finished in 75th in 4.08.59

As mentioned last week this Wednesday is the final Border league of the season and I’m sure we’ll have some Helsby age category winners on the night.
Updated directions have been sent by Ben on email but official website is here
The race is a 7.15pm start on the Wrexham Industrial Estate. Unfortunately I’m still injured and will not be able to run but look forward to some good results for Helsby on the night!
If anyone else has been racing this last week then please let me know as I can update the Helsby blog accordingly.
Keep on running
