Please find race report from Dave Feakes regarding their ‘Malvern Marathon’
Probably not a wise move on our part to participate in a marathon after our lack of training however, we weren’t about to waste a £12 entry fee and so we competed in the Malvern Marathon on Saturday. For those of you who don’t know it, Malvern is a pretty little town located south of Worcester at the base of the Malvern Hills. The race involves 4,800ft of ascent on tracks and paths and includes the length of the Malvern Hills. The run is organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association and has well stocked check points at quarter race intervals similar to the Sandstone Trail Race. The weather was very kind to us and the first half of the race to the market town of Ledbury went well. We had overlooked the fact that most of the climbing was in the second part of the race and so our pace dropped somewhat as we got closer to the finish. Lesley and I had decided to run together and I proved to be the weak member of the team but I know Lesley will be too modest to share this fact with other members of the Club.
We had a fantastic day and would certainly recommend the event to other Club members.
