Trail Mini Series
A new mini-Trail series has been added to our list of 2016 summer club counters.  These races are already popular with Helsby runners and will give newer runners a chance to venture off–road with us. Your best 5 races from 9 to count. All races are between 4.5 and 6 miles on paths, tracks, grass, old railway lines, beaches and sand dunes. Plus good value – the total entry fee for all 9 races is £22!!

Fell Mini Series
To balance things up a bit we have made the series 3 from 5 instead of 4 .

Inter-Club Fell Championship
The interclub fell championship counters have been announced. These are The Wobbler, Cilcain Show Race and Shelf Moor. Members from Helsby, Spectrum, Warrington & Delamere Spartans will compete for the championship that we have won the last two years running.

Felsby vs Helsby
Thanks to Fitzy for suggesting this greenarmy challenge – For a good year or so I have been trying to get more of the “Felsby” contingent to come along and do a road race around a glorious industrial estate with us roadies, and they have been trying to get me to come and do more fells races, as it’s out of both of our comfort zones. So I thought, why not have a little club competition over 2 races, 1 road race and 1 fell race, and the best team wins. Simples!  The races are the Buckley Border League on 17th  April & Dinas Bran on Wed 4th May. Please let Chris know which team you would like to bat(tle) for! fitzpatrick_chris@hotmail.com

Tim’s Talk on Orienteering
A week Wed on Wednesday 16th March, Tim will talk on encouraging us to orienteer too and will give us some useful tips for navigating when we are running. In the club bar at 8:30, sandwiches provided.

Sport Relief Mile
46934db5-d4a7-474d-8067-aa57e56ccb82Sunday 20th March at 2pm – the afternoon of the Tattenhall Border League Race.  1, 3 or 6 mile options. Why not come along & watch & support all our milers? It’s open to all ages (under11’s accompanied by an adult), young & old, & you can run or walk it or be wheeled! So why not take part?   Entries on the day or at http://www.sportrelief.com See poster below.

We are organising this. Thanks to those who have already volunteered to help. I’ll be in touch next week. BUT We could still do with another half dozen marshals please. Please let me know if you can help out for a couple of hours. jackiekeasley@btinternet.com  It should be good fun!

Club Presentation Evening
Friday 29th April – The 2015/2016 Border League series will just have finished so we will be having our annual celebration evening of awards from the 2015 Road & Fell Championship and 2015/16 cross country & Border Leagues series
.
A few ideas have been floated around about the format of this evening. A sit down meal (laid on by external caterers) at £15-20 per head, or our usual highly successful buffet whereby everyone brings a main or sweet along plus some club goodies thrown in.

To support the Helsby Community Sports Club and keep the doors open before the new facility comes along we need to fill the club house and spend money over the bar!  (competitive tendering for the new house build that will finance it is currently taking place).  To encourage maximum participation, we have come up with the idea of organising club paid transport to & from the evening from the Runcorn & Chester directions.

Please can you let us know what food option you would prefer & if you support the transport idea?   To jackiekeasley@btinternet.com or reply on facebook.

Last but not least. In order to calculate the Fell Championships from last year we need to know who ran in the St Johns Fell Race on Saturday 19th Sept 2015 so we can award points!  The race got a little chaotic with some runners going the wrong way so they never published results. We’d like to include points for this race for those who made the effort to go there. I know of Laura, Rachel, Louise McK & Rachel did it & possibly Emma, Sue B & Debbie R. Not sure about our chaps?    If folks can please think back and let me know/confirm whether they ran it and who did you finish in front of or behind that would be great. PLEASE BE HONEST!!!

That’s it for now.

Sorry it’s a bit long-winded, there’s a lot going on!

Cheers in running
Jackie
