No reports in the inbox this week so I’ve had to make it up sorry. Apologies in advance if the reports are a little short. If I have missed anything please let me know and I can always update the blog. As usual, all reports should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
St Helens 10k
It’s great to see Adrian Jackson back and running well after a knee operation last year. He found himself running in the St Helens 10k on Sunday and he had an excellent race to get 44.22 in position 186th. Well done Ade!

Wrexham Marathon Festival
This looked like a brilliant event (although there’s a rumour the toilets at the venue were worse than those in “Trainspotting!”), it included a full and half marathon plus this year they added a 20 mile race into the mix. Starting in Wrexham town centre the course takes the runners out to Wrexham industrial estate and surrounding roads before heading back into the centre for the finish.
We had 3 green vests lining up for the HM and Dave Madders was our sole Helsby runner in the 20 miler. Dave had a stormer considering he hasn’t ran more than 13 miles for a while and finished in a brilliant sub 3 hour time. Well done Dave! Meanwhile in the HM Gaz O’Connor put in a good performance to return first for Helsby and well done to Helen Owens and Ben Williams for a strong race both finishing in the low 1:50’s.
112th Gary Oconnor 01:47:07
129th Ben Williams 01:50:34
156th Helen Owens 01:53:54
57th David Madders 02:56:32

Cloud 9 Fell Race
Sue Buck slipped into the green vest for her maiden race as a 1st claim Green Army member at the Cloud 9 fell race on Sunday. A solid run saw her complete the race in 1:33:48 and grab 199th place. Well done Sue! Janet Roberston was also at the race and a superb run from her saw a 1:24:54 finish time in position 155. Big well done ladies!
Janet reports “a fun mud fest and a spectacular display of cakes!”

Tomorrow’s training will be the “eyeballs out” run which is a simple run to Frodsham and back as a group but in the last few miles the pace is ramped up so you are running at a fast pace back to the club.
We could do with some volunteers to lead each group so if anyone would like to do this please get in touch with myself (email@example.com), Jane Ashbrook (firstname.lastname@example.org), Jackie Keasley (email@example.com), Joe Beswick (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mario (email@example.com). Alternatively you can contact us on Facebook.
