Helsby Running Club – July & August Dates for your Diary
There’s a lot going on this next couple of months on the HRC running front. Here’s a reminder so you can hopefully come along and join in.
Firstly it’s our Annual Club Summer Handicap on Helsby Hill this evening. Meet at the club at 6:30pm.
Thursday 7th July – Deeside Off Road Grand Prix – Race 2 – our second counter in our Trail Mini Club Championships. A 4.5 mile off road race from Tata Sports & Social Club at Shotton CH5 1PY. To lift share meet at the club at 6:30pm. Here’s the details and entry form:- https://gallery.mailchimp.com/44f7135cdac47fa6325506208/files/OffRoadEntryForm2016.pdf
Friday 8th July – HRC Summer BBQ – 7:30pm start at the club – We are keeping the handicap and BBQ separate in order to make this a summer social evening open to family, friends and their children and in doing so supporting the HCSC by promoting bar takings! The club will provide the BBQ items but please bring along a salad or pudding/sweet to make the usual excellent spread. Please email Lesley letting her know you are coming and what you are bringing. email@example.com.
Wednesday 20th July – HRC Extraordinary General Meeting – 8:30pm in the bar after our club run. As mentioned at our recent AGM a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to produce a new club constitution that will allow us to apply for Community Associated Sports Club Status (CASC) which will benefit Helsby Running Club into the future. Here are links to the agenda, new draft constitution and our new club codes pf practice. The meeting won’t take long but we do need a quorum to get this through so please come along! https://gallery.mailchimp.com/44f7135cdac47fa6325506208/files/2016_EGM_agenda.pdf https://gallery.mailchimp.com/44f7135cdac47fa6325506208/files/HelsbyRC_DRAFT_new_constitution_v6.pdf https://gallery.mailchimp.com/44f7135cdac47fa6325506208/files/Codes_of_Practise_2016.pdf
Saturday & Sunday 16 & 17th July – Helsby Community Sports Club Force Weekend –The Rugby section are organising their annual RugbyForce weekend and will be tackling a number of projects which will benefit all sections. There are many small jobs that could be done with a little effort to help improve the club house and keep us chugging along until new build comes along. i.e. refurbishing the club’s upstairs meeting room ahead of it being transformed into a gym, partitioning the bar alcove to create a new meeting room, carrying out a deep-clean and some general maintenance on the club kitchen, painting the snooker room and a longer stretch of the green railings outside the club (the first impressions as you enter the club!). All materials will be provided, but please bring tools along if you can.
Here’s a video link of what’s required:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=tUrzTNdCdlA&app=desktop
Message from Rugby section – In the spirit of working together as one club, that as per the last refurbishment exercise in 2014, we could count on all of the club’s sections to support this. I’d therefore like to ask for each of the sections to publicise the event to their own members, but also having done so – to look at potential jobs that you’d like to undertake and feedback as to what you’ll take responsibility for. This is a great opportunity to come together and remind ourselves about what we are really about…a Community Club.
As we use the kitchen area for our functions, it would be good to get involved with this as well as other general tasks. Please if you can help out even for just a few hours let me know -it would be great to get volunteers from our whole wide membership not just our regular volunteers!! firstname.lastname@example.org
Inter Club Fell Championship – Last week’s Wobbler saw Helsby take the lead in this year’s inter club mini fell championship:-
|227||Spectrum Striders RC||221||6||8||5|
There has been a mix up with Spectrum having put down Teggs Nose as the next Counter (we thought it was Shelf Moor). So there is an extra date for your diary.
Saturday 13th August – Teggs Nose – 2:30pm – BM 11.7K 525m – Organised by Macclesfield Harriers. Note the final counter in this series is the Moel Fammau Mountain Race on Summer Bank Holiday Monday.
Cheers and see you very soon hopefully!
