Well it looks like people have already started hanging their running shoes up for Christmas as there’s nothing in the inbox this week. I know we’ve just had the X-mas Handicap last night, but we can cover that in next week’s round-up.
I’m sure there must have been some people out there at events the past week, so if anyone fancies sending in a report we can still include it in the next round-up.
I’ve had a couple of niggles myself that have stopped me from running the past couple of weeks so I haven’t been out and about much lately. However, the trainers went back on yesterday and I’m itching to get back on the hills. So as there’s nothing in the inbox I’m gonna highlight a couple of events that I’ve got my eye on over the festive period.
Jubilee Plunge – Saturday 30/12/2017 at 2pm – £1.00 entry on the day – 2 mile/1500ft of descent
Venue: Golden Lion, Llangynhafal, (GR 129633). Register by 1.00pm. 50 min walk to start.
If you don’t like running ‘up’ hills then this might be for you ;-). The race starts on Moel Famau by the Jubilee Tower. You then simply run as fast as you can back down to the Golden Lion while trying to stay on your feet. Phil Gillard and I did this race last year – I did the better job of staying on my feet – lol.
Tour de Llyn Llydaw – Monday 01/01/2018 at 10.30am – £2.00 entry on the day – 5 mile/594ft of climb.
Venue: Pen-y-Pass Youth Hostel, (GR 647556)
This is a great low key event, guaranteed to ‘freshen you up’ after the festivities. Take heed though, this can be a serious run in bad weather so do take the appropriate kit. I did this one last year. The route goes up the Miners Track to Llyn Llydaw , which you then run around before returning via the same route. If you fancy it, check the weather beforehand and get there early as parking is very limited at Pen y Pass.
So the only round up is from the Parkruns, which were also relatively quiet on Saturday. We did have 7 members out across Birkenhead and Delamere though. Consolidated results for Helsby are HERE.
Have a great Christmas everyone, and stay safe.
