Happy New Year Green Army
I hope you all had an excellent Christmas and New Year. Sorry about the lack of a blog last week but there wasn’t much in the inbox plus it was Christmas week, so I was far too busy to do it.
A few notices to start us off.
4VHM – 21st Jan
We are still on the look out for volunteers, if you can spare a few hours on either the Saturday or Sunday please email firstname.lastname@example.org, or if you can marshal please email email@example.com
Borders League/XC clash of fixture 14th Jan
The Abergele Borders League Race, and Runcorn Town Park XC race clash again this season, so neither team incurs penalty points if you could message myself firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com to let us know your preference that would be very much appreciated. We can then put together teams for the day and will let everyone know before the 14th. We have also put a post on the Facebook page, so you can also reply on there.

The week before Christmas seen the Christmas handicap take place, Jackie sent over a report
Merry Xmas to you, hope it was a good one. Here’s a festive Xmas Handicap Report.
Twas the Wednesday before Xmas and 24 Xmas handicappers hoof tapping on the start line for the annual Xmas sleight ride dash from Tesco to Godscroft Lane and back. Amongst the revellers were a number of Santa’s, some elves and many reindeer.
Donner – Kate Mann, who came second last year, consolidated her ride this year and came in first in a handicap time of 29:58 (absolute 24:09) followed by the fastest reindeer in the pack Dasher – Colin B (handicap time 31:09, absolute 19:09) with Comet – Ben C hard on his hooves 2 seconds later. Over the next 3 minutes the main reindeer herd of 17 came in at a gallop keepings Santa’s little helpers (time keepers Louise, Jo, Helen & Kathryn, thanks too) busy on their toes. Followed over the next 4 minutes, by the return of the last half dozen of the weary scattered herd. A strange an incident as ever occurred with the last four footed friend, aka Dancer- Jane, transforming from reindeer to horse, not just any horse, this one’s going for a Guinness World record as the fastest (furry) marathoner horse of all time!
8 minutes separating the whole herd, with the fastest 4 reindeer being Dasher- Colin B, Prancer- Patrick, Vixen – Daniel R & Blitzen- Phil T, all red-nosed but not a Rudolph nowhere in sight!
A Ho Ho Ho evening was had by all in Santa’s grotto back at the stables with troughs of hot steaming soup & platters of mince pies plus a visit by Santa with everyone receiving a secret Santa present.
Thanks to Santa’s elves Cupid-Colin T, Olive-Betty and of course Joe & Mario for keeping the reindeer herd on the straight & narrow through Helsby and turning us around at the far end.
Hi Boxing Day saw a few helsby green vests turn out to run the walls. A slightly adjusted and longer course than usual due to repair works on the walls.
Park run seen runners out in Pheonix, Chester, Delamere, & Keswick. Full consolidated results below
That’s it for now, see you all soon
