Happy new year and welcome to this weeks blog, before we get started please see a few words below from Paul Foster regarding the Northern XC Champs:
This year’s Northern cross country championship will be held at Harewood house Leeds on Saturday 27th January. If anybody would like to run in this event please can you email me no later than the 10th January. Runners will be entered and paid by the club, but please check your dates before entering. If runners don’t turn up at this event after entering it is costly for the club. Injuries cannot be helped and you will not receive a public flogging!
Also please give a warm welcome to new member Rob Hough. I’m sure you will all make him feel welcome, he’s already been roped into doing the Borders on Sunday! Fitzy really has no shame 😉
And finally the belated results from the Xmas handicap can be found at the following link:
It opens on the handicap results and the previous sheet has the absolute results.
Smithhills 10k MT
Our top vet Col Bishop had another storming run at a 10k MT race at Smithhills in Bolton on Sunday, well done Bish! He has kindly sent over a few words for this race, please see below:
On a lovely crisp frosty morning with clear blue skies I headed off to Bolton Smithills country park for the monthly run organised by NMAC for a 10k multiterrain race. With a start on the grass half loop of the park before heading out of the park with a good mile or so uphill climb repeated twice. Happy to say I had podium position 1 .
Would love to say one I would recommend this one for any of our club members who are NMAC members but unfortunately it is the last one ever due to lack of interest.
Certainly blew the cobwebs away.
Cheshire XC Champs
The Green Army came out in force for the Cheshire County XC Champs on Saturday, a big well done to all those who ran, some even doubled up with a parkrun first! Over to Captain June with this fab report…
On Saturday an army of green vests were seen racing around Delemere at the Cheshire Cross Country Championships. Fantastic running by everyone who took part. The conditions were very tough….a ‘proper’ cross country course! The support around course was brilliant and certainly helped push us through the gloopy mud! Lots of happy smiley faces albeit with very muddy spikes came through the finish line. Well done all!
Post race there were lots of nominations for the ‘Lady of the League’ and I am delighted to announce that Janet is this week’s winner for her positive vibes and wonderful smile pre, during and post race! Well done!

Please find the consolidated results from the Saturday parkrun, well done to all who ran one!
