Hello Green Army

Sorry for the late blog this week, I would like to say I was waiting for a race report to come through for the 4VHM, but still none have arrived. I had completely forgot though. Please if you would like to send in a race report send the into helsby-race-reports@outlook.com

A big Green Army welcome to new member Richard Piggott, he and his wife Zoe, ran the 4VHM today. I hope you both enjoyed it in the tropical conditions.

Park run seen runners out in Edinburgh, Pheonix, Hanley, Ellesmere Port, Stanford, Widnes, & Wepre. Full consolidated results below

A message from 4VHM Race Director Laura Baynham-Hughes

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped put on another amazing race on Sunday. Whether you helped out pre-race, on the Saturday or were there on Sunday on the course or at the start and finish areas – you are all stars. The weather was grim but it didn’t dampen our spirits! Feedback has been fantastic so we should all be very proud of ourselves. It really is a team effort and many of you do a lot behind the scenes throughout the year which doesn’t go unnoticed by me.

If you have any feedback please feel free to email me at laura@baynham-hughes.com.

Hopefully we have a race report from a Green Army runner (errrr nope) . From my perspective it was a cracking race in challenging conditions. We had nearly 1600 runners start which is pretty impressive considering the conditions.  And some impressive Helsby results too. Overall winner was Ben Fish from Blackburn Harrriers, who came second last year and first female back was Gemma Connolly, who runs for St Helens Sutton AC. Local trophies went to Richard McGeachie and Hannah Cowley (I have already recruited Hannah – so please make her feel welcome when she comes along on Wednesday evening!) First back for Helsby was Fitzy and Alison Halsall who also picked up a Vet prize.

Cheers

Laura

It was a brilliant day despite the weather and yes the social media feed back has been brilliant.

A quick report from myself then.

As far as road races go, that’s the worst conditions I have ever ran in, cold, wind, hail, sleet and snow were all thrown at us. Runners were dropping all over the show, from mile 6 to mile 8, there was cold weather casualties all over the place. Even last years winner who came in second, struggled in the last mile, barely able to run straight in the last two hundred metres, it just goes to show someone that fit still found it extremely hard.

Some great performances from the Green Army, 21 of us started the race, performance of the day in my opinion went to Alison Halsall who came 3rd in her V45 Category. Unsure if anyone got any PB’s but another special mention to Jane Ashbrook, who ran as Hercules the horse. By the sounds of it you’re well on the way to getting the world record.
