Thursday night was already our 7th road counter of this season, the Woolston 10k. Fantastic showing for Helsby saw 16 members out on the night. There was great support on the figure of eight Woolston Park laps from Joe and Louise. There was at least two PB’s on the night from Colin Thompson and Ben Williams. Colin Thompson was first man home for Helsby and Jane Ashbrook first lady home. It’s also worth noting that Jo Farwell had biked 20 miles to get to the race! Well done.

Friday night was the ever popular Tattenhall Tough Team event with a good showing from Helsby on what was a glorious night for spectating but maybe starting off as a little muggy for running. Some good team names chosen as you can see from the results.
It was great to see Ivor Johnstone setting the race off and support from Tough Team regular Mike Searle. Support also on the night from Joe and Louise. Some photos from Mike Hallsworth (also out marshalling) are in the attached pdf file (TO FOLLOW)
Full results are available from the Tattenhall website

Sunday morning was our 4th fell counter of the season which was the ‘tougher than most in our fell series” Moel-y-Gamelin race, starting and finishing at the Ponderosa’ café at the horseshoe pass. Strong field for this one as it was a North Wales counter and Welsh Open counter also.
It was wet and windy and only men of steel started with just the club vest on….New honours taken too with Jim O’Hara having a fantastic run to be first home for Helsby, hopefully this will now give him the confidence to know how good he can be. Jayne Joy was first lady home and a senior lady prize winner too (more wine for Jayne). Even with the tricky conditions the course record was broken by the leading male.
Joe and Mario out in support on the course.
Hopefully results to follow online shortly with a more detailed report when that happens. Results should appear either at Wrexham Road Runners or Welsh Fell Runners website.

Keep on running
