Gyrn gallop fell counter results 30th july 2011

Results are now up for Gyrn Gallop, Rhiwlas nr Oswestry

This was our 10th Fell Counter of the season which was only a few days after the Green Green Grass, a week last Saturday on 30th July, which possibly accounted for the lower turnout that at previous races of 5 Green vests

This is an interesting Fell Race due to the fast road start which then becomes a climb up the Gyrn on a good trail path. Although runnable, the steady climb is quite a test, as it is a constant climb for just under 2 miles, even more difficult on a warm afternoon. There are some photos of this section on Pete’s great site here

The trail becomes some fields at the top and after quickly going round the marshall is the same route back, so a couple of miles of downhill running really gives the legs a good stretch. The climb then back to the finish is survivable knowing the drink and food that follows.

Please also note Gareth’s brilliant performance on what was his first fell race!

27th         Phil Gillard                           58.24

Mynydd myfyr fell counter results 30th may 2011

Hi all

Please find attached a link to the results for the 4th Fell counter of the season the Mynydd Myfyr Hill race at Trefonen nr Oswestry 30th May 2011. On what is normally a sunny day for this event the Helsby runners were instead treated to slight drizzle and cloudy skies but it did not affect any of the enthusiasm for the race.

Some great efforts all round produced winning runs for Jackie and Vanessa both picking up prizes in their respective categories for 1st placings. Well done to all who ran.

Thanks also to the varied support on course. Mario was also in the race running with ex club member Steph Charman
